A Quick Guide to Making Yummy Biscuits

·         2 cups of flour

·         1 tablespoon of baking powder

·         ½ teaspoon of salt

·         ½ cup of shortening

·         ¾ cup of cold milk

Put It Together:

·         Preheat the oven to 450 degrees

·         Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl

·         Cut shortening with a pastry blender until it looks like thick crumbs

·         Pour milk into flour mix and stir

·         Mix until the dough is soft and moist

·         Turn dough on floured workspace

Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients:

·         2 cups of flour

·         2 teaspoons of baking powder

·         ¼ teaspoon of baking soda

·         1 teaspoon of salt

·         ¾ cup of buttermilk

·         7 tablespoons of butter (chilled and cut)

·         2 tablespoons of buttermilk (for brushing)

Put It Together:

·         Preheat the oven to 425 degrees

·         Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

·         Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl

·         Add cold butter slices

·         Use a pastry blender until it resembles thick crumbs

·         Make a dip in the center of the mixture

·         Pour buttermilk into the center and stir gently

·         Use your work surface to turn the dough (pat into a rectangle)

·         Fold the rectangle into thirds

·         Gather crumbs and flatten back into a rectangle

·         Repeat twice more

·         Roll dough on floured work space

·         Use a round biscuit cutter

·         Reroll any scraps to make more biscuits

·         Transfer biscuits to baking sheet

·         Make an indent in the top of each with your thumb

·         Brush buttermilk over the top

·         Bake until the biscuits are golden brown (about 15 minutes)

Cheddar Biscuits

Ingredients:

·         2 cups of flour

·         1 cup of shredded cheese

·         1 tablespoon of baking powder

·         1 teaspoon of salt

·         ½ teaspoon of garlic powder

·         2/3 cup of milk

·         1/3 cup of butter (softened)

·         1 egg

·         2 tablespoons of melted butter

·         2 teaspoons of dried parsley

·         1 teaspoon of garlic powder

Put It Together:

·         Preheat the oven to 400 degrees

·         Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

·         Stir flour, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and baking powder

·         In a separate container, stir milk, soft butter, and egg

·         Add the flour mix and stir until chunky

·         Place batter on baking sheet with a tablespoon

·         Bake for about 10 minutes

·         While it’s baking, stir melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley together

·         Remove biscuits from the oven

·         Brush melted butter over the top of your baked cheddar biscuits

·         Serve and enjoy
